This picture was taken in December,
1996, near the Surin Islands in Thailand. The photopro on the live-aboard
"Fantasea" and I spent a whole dive alternating shots of this big guy.
Towards the end, just as I was thinking I had stressed the turtle enough, he turned toward
us and swam between us, allowing several more shots.
This
bluering angelfish was located near the Similan Islands off the coast of
Thailand. They really are magnificant fish. The deep blue/purple is a color
like none I've ever seen on any other creature.
Richellieu Rock is located out in
the middle of nowhere off the Thailand coast. Unless the tide is low, the rock does
not rise to the surface and its amazing the boats are able to find it. When we dove
it, these two good-sized octopi were sitting in about 25 feet of water just waiting for me
to take their picture. So I did.
The soft
corals of Palau are wondrous. The pink, red, and light orange varities are my
favorites.
This oriental sweetlips
was taken near Elephant Rock, Similan Islands, Thailand. The juvenile of this
species is really interesting.
There were trigger fish
all over the place in Palau. It seemed to be nesting season when we were there in
October, and they didn't like us invading their territory. Can you say BITE!
All photos were taken with a Nikonos V camera, SB103 strobe, and most with a 28mm lense.
